Waite Park Community Garden Opens Soon!

It's spring! That means that the opening of the Waite Park Community Garden is just around the corner. 2013 will be the fifteenth year of operation for our community garden!

The Waite Park Community Garden offers 72 individual plots, including 2 raised, wheelchair accessible plots, at 3601 Lincoln Street NE. The annual fee is $35 for the season, with a 12-hour commitment for basic upkeep of the garden and surrounding communal areas. This year the garden is planning more social events and a plant swap for gardeners and the community to take part in throughout the season.

Mark your calendars for the upcoming events:

New Gardener Registration: Saturday, April 13, 10:00am-noon at the Waite Park Community Center (1810 34th Avenue NE). Open garden plots are allocated on a first-come/first-serve basis to Waite Park Neighborhood residents, Minneapolis residents and residents of the surrounding suburban communities.

Gardening Community Social: Wednesday, May 8, 6:30-8:30pm at the Waite Park Garden. Gardeners get to know WPCG neighbors and swap seedlings. Meet the mentors and learn about maintenance, improvements, and communication plans for the season.

Garden Work Day: Saturday, May 18, Noon-2:00pm at the Waite Park Garden

Northeast Farmers Market: Saturday, June 1, 9:00am-1:00pm. The Waite Park Community Garden will be the featured non-profit organization. The Northeast Farmers Market is located at St. Boniface Church, 629 2nd Street NE.
