The Northeast Push Cart Derby

The First Annual Northeast Push Cart Derby at Waite Park was a success. The event drew over 100 neighbors from around Northeast Minneapolis to see eight teams compete in head-to-head racing. After several heats and some photo finishes, the Love Bug team from Cleveland Street barely beat out the Hayes Street Hot Pockets in the championship race.

The Waite Park Community Council would like to thank Lily's Coffee Shop, Culver's, Home Depot, The Minnesota Rollergirls, The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, The Northeast Chamber of Commerce, Bywood East Health Care, Pete Herrera, Mary Farnham, all the volunteers and neighbors that made this a great afternoon of racing. We will see you next year!

How can the Minneapolis Parks meet your needs?

Please join your neighbors and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board River District staff in a meeting to discuss the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board's new Community Service Area (CSA) operating structure and how they plan to deliver quality program services for community residents in the Upper Northeast CSA.

After sharing CSA information, small groups will be formed for seeking input from the neighborhood residents on how MPRB can best meet the park and recreation needs of your household.

The Upper Northeast CSA meeting will be held on:

Thursday, June 25, 2009, 6:30 p.m. at
Windom Park Recreation Center
